Taking the “Horror” Out of Selling and Buying a Home

The following blog post was written by Joanne Mills, a Keeping Current Matters subscriber on Long Island, NY. We enjoyed her post and received permission to share it with you, our readers.  – The KCM Crew

First, what is a home? This is what you will find in the dictionary.

Home – noun

1. a house, apartment, or other shelter that is the usual residence of a person, family, or household

2. the place in which one’s domestic affections are centered

3. the dwelling place or retreat

4. any place of residence or refuge: a heavenly home

I recently helped buyer clients find their dream home. For some, this particular home wouldn’t have even been a consideration, because this home happened to be the “Amityville Horror House”. When I first called my clients about this new available listing, their first reaction was, “I don’t think so”. But I had been working with these buyers for several years, knew just what they wanted, and convinced them they needed to at least see it. After viewing this beautiful vintage colonial, what they began to see was a home. A place where they could live, entertain, enjoy, and as in number 2 above, the place in which one’s domestic affections are centered. They saw past the “Horror” and found a home.

Now for most buyers and sellers the “horrors” they might run across during their real estate experience are probably more common fears. What is my home worth? Will someone buy it? Where will we live? Is this a good investment? Will I get a mortgage? Is this a good time to sell or buy a home?  These are all good questions and understandable fears. Working with a professional agent, one who knows the market and knows how to get you through the “horror” is the only way to reach your goal … a home. Ultimately real estate is still the best investment you can make. So, look past the fear, find the right professional to work with, and you’ll find at the end …a heavenly home.

It is right that the buying and selling of house is not easy task and the client feels little bit of fear because it is big investment for the buyers and so many question arise in the mind. So it is good idea to consult with someone who must have the experience in this field for all the question which arise in the mind at the time of buying the house.
