Money Magazine: The Real Estate Market is Back

Last Friday, we ran an InfoGraphic from RealEstate.com that showed that the real estate market was coming back. Some objected that the information was from a survey of industry players that may have a natural bias. For the doubters, here is the cover of the latest edition of Money Magazine released this past weekend.

Money Magazine

The magazine supported their case by explaining:

  • In the last year, home prices increased in 92 of the country’s 100 largest metropolitan areas
  • Homes are more affordable than they’ve been in 40 years
  • The number of houses for sale is at the lowest level in a decade
  • Price increases are projected for most of the country this year

It seems that even the unbiased realize that Housing is Back!

We are very familiar with the infamous Time Magazine covers of 2006. As a matter of fact, we have actually written about them:

      http://www.kcmblog.com/2010/09/17/time-magazine-as-wrong-today-as-they-were-in-2005/

The difference is that the covers of 2006 were based on an ‘unbridled enthusiasm’
instead of a close look at market conditions. Money Magazine, on the other hand, backs up its assertion with several pages of graphs, charts and data on the current real estate situation.

Did you get a chance to read the actual article? If so, we would love to know if you disagree with their conclusions.

The housing market is bouncing back at last. Housing demand is suddenly roaring back, and the nation’s home builders are rushing just to keep up. Housing will finally start contributing to economic growth, but there’s still a long way to go.
